Buy a set of calligraphic pens of several colors at your local craft store, bookstore, etc...1.5 to 2 mm to start with.
Print material at this site
Make the calligraphic pens available to your children on a reward basis and returned after each exercise. You will find them more engaging and taking on the challenge. Don't throw the pens into the current collection it will produce nothing.
